My name is Nicole, I am a born and bred New Orleanian. After 38 years of living almost exclusively in my hometown my husband and I thought we would pick up our life in the middle of a global pandemic and move across the Atlantic to Barcelona… with our dog and three cats.

Living in Barcelona has been the adventure I didn’t know I was looking for and it has allowed me to travel around Europe in a way that would not have been possible from the US. It is not always easy being the outsider, making new friends as an adult can be hard especially when there is a language barrier, but the lifestyle change has been rewarding and I’m grateful for the experience of living in a new country.

As a child my parents instilled in me a desire to learn from other cultures and seek out different ways of life than our own. We would do things like spend months traveling by train through India, camp on beaches in the Yucatán, or live with a host family on the island of Naxos, Greece. These memories are what inspire and drive me to explore more of the world but also to dive deeper into places and cultures that intrigue me and that I’ve grown to love.
